NCCU'S WICKER VOTED CIAA COACH OF THE YEAR
Lady Eagle Volleyball Jumps from Fifth to Second Place in One Year

HAMPTON, VA -- North Carolina Central University head coach Ingrid Wicker was selected as the 2002 CIAA Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Tuesday (Nov. 12).
Wicker, now in here ninth season as head coach, guided the Lady Eagles to a 26-17 record during the 2002 regular season and a second place finish in the CIAA Western Division race. Just a year ago, NCCU placed fifth in the division with an overall record of 7-19.
Wicker's recruiting class, arguably one of the best in the league, is a major reason for the quick turnaround. Of the seven newcomers, three were voted to the CIAA All-Rookie Team, including the conference Rookie of the Year, and another earned First-Team All-CIAA honors.
