Jennifer Hukill     DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University junior guard Jennifer Hukill tied a school record with eight three-point field goals during a 75-43 victory over UNC Pembroke inside McLendon-McDougald Gym in Durham, N.C. on Tuesday.
Hukill, a native of Greensboro, N.C. who transferred from Lander University, scored a game-high 24 points courtesy of her 8-of-13 long range shooting, matching the record set by Ardrina Porter against USC-Aiken on Nov. 14, 1998.
As a team, NCCU made 12-of-23 three-point field goals (52.2 percent), the most by the Lady Eagles since making 14 triples against Saint Augustine's on Jan. 26, 2002.
NCCU senior forward Cassie King and freshman forward Jori Nwachukwu contributed double-doubles. King amassed 11 points and 13 rebounds for her 38th career double-double, while Nwachukwu collected 10 points and 13 boards for the fourth double-double of her rookie season. Junior Casey Daniel added 11 points with three baskets from long range for NCCU (6-4).
UNC Pembroke (2-8) was led by senior forward Natasha Stotler with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Sharkeysha Midgette with 11 points and five boards.
The Lady Braves held an early 18-9 advantage after Stotler hit a three-pointer at 10:18. NCCU responded by closing out the first half with a 24-6 run to take a 33-24 cushion into the locker room.
The Lady Eagles used a 12-1 spurt in the second half to push the margin to 55-33 with 14:19 left to play. NCCU's largest lead was the final score, 75-43 (32 points).
