     HAMPTON, VA -- North Carolina Central University freshman Nakisha Stewart has been selected as the CIAA Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of Jan. 8-14, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced Sunday (Jan. 15).
     Stewart, a 6-0 forward out of Louisburg, N.C., collected team-highs of 14 points and nine rebounds during a 45-40 loss to Saint Augustine's College on Saturday (Jan. 14). She made 5-of-7 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws against the Lady Falcons, while adding a steal and a blocked shot in her first game back from a foot injury.
     This is the second CIAA Rookie of the Week honor for Stewart, who was recognized initially on Nov. 27.
     Stewart, who was a four-time conference player of the year at Bunn High School and broke the state's scholastic career rebounding record with 1,553 boards, is currently averaging 9.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest for the 11-3 Lady Eagles.
