NCCU'S KING NAMED CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
HAMPTON, VA - North Carolina Central University sophomore forward Cassie
King has been selected as the CIAA Women's Basketball Player of the
Week, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Sunday
(Jan. 23).
King, a 6-0 native of Wendell, NC, averaged
21 points, 10 rebounds and two steals per game last week during victories
over Livingstone College and Converse College.
Against Converse, King amassed 25 points and
12 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season.
King is currently ranked among the league
leaders in scoring (19.5 ppg - 2nd), rebounding (9.6 rpg - 4th), blocked
shots (1.41 bpg - 6th), steals (2.47 - 14th) and field goal percentage
(47.1 percent - 13th).
This is King's third conference player of
the week recognition this season, claiming honors on Nov. 21 and Dec. 5,
2004.
