LADY EAGLES DEFEAT VIRGINIA STATE 75-41, WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT

     Durham, NC -- The North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles defeated the Virginia State University Trojans, 75-41, in McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium on Friday. The win was the seventh straight for NCCU, who has also won 11 of its last 12 contests.
     NCCU head coach Joli Robinson's squad jumped out to a 25-4 advantage and cruised to a 43-18 halftime lead. The Lady Eagles shot 66.7 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. 
     For the game, NCCU was led by freshman Jori Nwachukwu, who scored 12 points and added nine rebounds and four steals. Lady Eagles all-time leading scorer Cassie King contributed her 42nd career double-double by scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. King also recorded five steals and two blocks. Sophomore point guard Tonia Roundtree was the other Lady Eagle in double figures accumulating 10 points in only 11 minutes of action.
     Virginia State (4-15, 1-11 CIAA) was topped by Latreshia Harris and Monique Mason, both had 10 points for the Lady Trojans.
