LADY EAGLES BLOW BY BULLDOGS 75-54, KING SCORES 2,000th POINT

DURHAM, NC - The North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles led from start to finish, as they easily defeated the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs 75-54 on Thursday inside McLendon-McDougald Gymasnium.
NCCU (19-5, 14-3) limited the Bulldogs to 38.2 percent shooting from the field, while shooting 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor. The win was the 12th straight for NCCU, who has also won 16 of its last 17 contests and nine straight inside McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium.
The second half saw BSU (14-9, 10-7) draw within eight (45-37), before NCCU outscored the Lady Bulldogs 30-17 during the final 13 minutes to cement the game and leave with a 75-54 win.
Cassie King     All-time NCCU leading scorer Cassie King added to her pantheon of greatness by scoring her 2,000th career point on a free-throw late in the second half. King becomes just the seventh player in CIAA history to amass 2,000 points - just last week King reached the 1,000 rebound plateau.
Four Lady Eagles scored in double-figures: freshman forward Jori Nwachukwu tallied 15 points and nine rebounds, freshman guard Jasmine Newkirk contributed 15 points, six assists and three rebounds, King tallied 14 points and sophomore forward LaQuanda Williams had a team-high 16 points and five rebounds.
Since Williams, who is averaging 21.4 points per game in her last five outings, joined the team, NCCU has posted a 16-1 record.
BSU (14-9, 10-7) was led by junior Allyson Swailes, who scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Sherika Thomas was the other Lady Bulldog in double-figures with 11 points.
