The contest constituted the final home-game for NCCU All-time leading scorer Cassie King and fellow senior Brittany McGhee. The win was the 14th straight for NCCU, who has also won 18 of its last 19 contests
NCCU (21-5, 16-3) was paced by sophomore forward LaQuanda Williams, who scored a game-high 25 points and added five rebounds, three assists and four steals.      King, who had her jersey retired after the game, scored 22 points, nabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists in NCCU's final home conference game as a member of the CIAA.
Over the last three years, NCCU squads led by King have amassed a 39-11 record (.780 winning percentage) inside McLendon-McDougald Gym and an overall record of 74-39 (.654 winning percentage).      King's 2,030 points are good for seventh in CIAA history and her 1,035 career rebounds are second at NCCU all-time and eighth in conference history. She is the only second player in CIAA history and 15th player in NCAA Division II history to amass more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.
Coach Joli Robinson’s team finishes up the regular-season on Saturday at Brayboy Gymnasium on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University at 5:30 p.m.
By virtue of JCSU's loss against Fayetteville State University and Elizabeth City State University's loss against Bowie State University, NCCU has locked up the CIAA Western Division crown and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CIAA Tournament.
