NCCU'S KING VOTED TO SOUTH ATLANTIC ALL-REGION TEAM

AIKEN, SC -- North Carolina Central University senior Cassie King has been announced as a member of the 2006-07 Daktronics, Inc. Division II Women's Basketball South Atlantic All-Region Team, as voted on by the region's sports information directors.
King, a 6-0 native of Wendell, N.C., earned her third consecutive selection to the All-Region Team and for the second consecutive year, was a member of the First Team. King ranked second in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in scoring (16.5 points per game), 10th in rebounding (8.0 rpg), sixth in steals (2.3 spg) and third in blocked shots (1.76 bpg).
During her tenure at NCCU, King is only the second women's basketball student-athlete in the CIAA and the15th in NCAA Division II history to reach milestones of 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. King boasts career numbers of 2,117 points and 1,061 rebounds, to go along with 276 steals, 193 assists and 148 blocked shots. She is already the school's all-time leading scorer and needs 17 boards to become the Lady Eagles all-time leading rebounder, a title currently held by Pame Sawyer (1986-90) with 1,077 career caroms.
King led NCCU to its first CIAA Tournament Championship in 23 years, an overall record of 25-5 and currently, a school record 18-game win streak. This year's squad has equaled the Lady Eagles single-season standard with 25 victories and is the fifth in school history to record 20 wins.
