NCCU'S KING HONORABLE MENTION FOR WBCA ALL-AMERICA TEAM

ATLANTA -- North Carolina Central University sophomore Cassie King has been recognized as a 2005 NCAA Division II Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team Honorable Mention, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Tuesday (March 22).
King, a 6-0 forward from Wendell, NC, is the nation's fourth leading scorer in NCAA Division II with an average of 22.9 points per game. She also averaged 9.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per contest for the 16-13 Lady Eagles.
During her second season at NCCU, King set a new single-season standard with 664 points, passing the mark set by Von Fulmore during the 1985-86 campaign with 636 points. She amassed 14 double-doubles and now has 22 for her college career. King was selected All-CIAA and named to the CIAA All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row.
On March 1, King scored a school and conference tournament record 59 points, more than any women's college basketball player this season, during an 84-79 overtime win over Bowie State in the quarterfinals of the CIAA Tournament. She shot 21-of-38 from the field and made 17-of-18 free throws, while adding a team-high 13 rebounds with no turnovers and no fouls in 45 minutes of play.
