NCCU WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS TWO CIAA WEEKLY AWARDS
HAMPTON, VA – North Carolina Central University
freshman Antionette Spain has been selected as the CIAA Women's
Tennis Player of the Week, while head coach David Nass has been
named the CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Week, the conference office
announced on Wednesday.
Spain, a native of Charlotte, N.C., won both
of her singles matches during the week of March 26-April 1, including a
come-from-behind, tie-break victory at No. 4 singles over Kim Moore of
Shaw University (3-6, 7-5, 11-9) on March 27. She also posted a doubles
record of 1-1.
Nass, now in his 10th year at NCCU, picked
up conference coach of the week honors after guiding the Lady Eagles to
a 1-1 week, with his squad rebounding from a loss at Shaw (3-6) to claim
a road victory at Elizabeth City State (7-2).
