Last week, SGA president Damien Ruffin met with SOMEBODY BIG, UNC System Chair Jay Wilson Bradley. We know it happened. We have a photo of the meeting. We wanted to run the photo with an article about the meeting.
After all, when the SGA president meets someone representing the entire UNC system, that’s what we call news.
So why’s there no story about the meeting? Well, we’d love to have written that story because that’s what we do over here. Our reporter tried and tried again to interview the SGA representatives that met with Bradley.
But for some reason, it seems that SGA president, Damien Ruffin, and SGA vice president, Kian Brown, aren’t capable of returning phone calls. Ten calls to be specific.
Here’s the thing: SGA officials and this paper have something in common — we both exist to serve NCCU’s students.
Their job is to represent all students. Our job is to keep students informed.
By ignoring the Campus Echo, these SGA officers have ignored every student’s right to know what is happening in their name.
