“People say what you wanna do as a career, you’ll do for free,” said Kooley High member Charlie Smarts. “We’re actually losing money doing this.” Losing money, maybe, but when it comes to making feel-good music, hell yeah.
After listening to their music, people should walk away feeling enlightened. Kooley High’s new release is titled “The Summer Session EP.” The project features Grammy-Award-winning producer 9th Wonder, E. A. Floe, Lazarus and Halo.
The new album has 9 tracks of hot beats. The EP displays superb lyricism and the flow of each bar is very concentrated and matches the tracks perfectly. I would recommend this EP to anyone who appreciates good music. If Jesus were here, he’d probably endorse this CD.
Kooley High, who met on the campus of N.C. State University, consists of The Sinopsis, Tom Foolery, Rapsody, Tab-One and Charlie Smarts. Rapsody, a small-stature female with a flow that would crush the biggest, baddest male in the game, says being a female emcee is a blessing. She will admit that being a female does get her a little more appreciation, though.
The future is looking bright for Kooley High as they prepare for their album release party.
Featured performers include Skyzoo, M1 Platoon, Carlitta Durand, Phocuz, TeeThree and Young Swift.
The event is set to take place tomorrow night at the Pour House in downtown Raleigh.
