Pablo: Diary of a sinner
The wait is over! North Carolina is finally getting its representation in the rap game. “Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry” is the name of Petey Pablo’s debut album. Was the wait worth it?

The first track on the CD, “Petey Pablo”, is a sure “club banger” that signals a good purchase. The next track, the now-classic “Raise Up” that will keep you in that bounce mood. Right away, the first eight minutes of the CD make you feel like you are at the hottest down south spot.

The next few tracks could use some doctoring.. “I”, a track produced by Timbaland, is okay, but “I Told Y’All” could have been left at the studio. Pablo picks it back up with the second single “Didn’t I” and gets you back into the album.

Two other songs to catch your ear are “Y’All Ain’t Ready” and “919”, which has been out for about a year on the underground scene. This song puts you in the same aggressive mindset as Lil’ Jon and the Eastside Boys’ “Bia Bia”.

The latter part of the album is mellow, but it works because it shows Petey’s versatility. He even uses a sample of the old O’Jays song, “You and Me” for the track “Test of My Faith”.

If you are a true fan of down south rap, you understand that it’s all about making you bounce.

This album will without a doubt make you raise up and tho’ dem bows!
