WPI Mass Choir wows crowd at B.N. Duke
By Tamara Harbison
Echo Staff Writer

Following three full months of dedicated preparation, the members of Worship and Praise Inspirational Mass Choir were forced to face the music on Oct. 28 at 3:30 p.m. during their 14th Anniversary celebration.

Family and friends filled B.N. Duke auditorium with anxious expectations of what the choir had in store.

WPI’s songs included “Trouble Don’t Last Always”,“When the Saint’s Go Up to Worship”, “Let the Redeem of the Lord Say So” and “Peace”.

Afterward, the WPI Alumni Choir joined the choir on stage for the finale, “WPI Theme Song”.

The program included the coronation of Mr. and Miss WPI 2001-2002 and guest performances by recording artists Righteous Riders and ADAGIO.

During the reception, special presentations were made to the musicians and members of the Executive Board.

The anniversary was coordinated by Donald Barringger, vice president and business manager of the WPI.

“We were extremely blessed this year with awesome dedicated choir members, who were willing to lend a helping hand, without them the program would not have been a success,” said Barringger.

WPI has faced and overcome numerous obstacles by holding strong to the belief that their founders instill, “Where there is unity, there is strength.” It is unity that opened the doors of opportunity for WPI like their tours of Atlanta, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In November WPI plans to tour Charlotte and record a CD with the National Collegiate Conference.
