About 40 million Americans do not have health insurance according to a National Academies web site that discusses the insured and uninsured in the United States. According to the site 80 percent of the uninsured are employed or are members of working families.
The total number of those without health insurance is more than the combined population of Connecticut, Texas and Florida.
This web site is a new publication of the National Academy Press.
