Students at N.C. Central University who need to grab a bite to eat after the cafeteria has closed, or after a late night of studying or partying have plenty of options.
There are several restaurants in Durham and Chapel Hill that cater to college students and keep late hours.
Chapel Hill is well -known as a college town, which is why so many businesses cater to late-nighters. A variety of foods are available for anyone who desires something to eat, or is just looking for somewhere to hang out.
Pepper’s Pizza (127 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill) is known for playing loud rock music. Pepper’s serves pizza, along with an assortment of Italian fare, and beer. Pepper’s is open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, until midnight on Wednesday and Thursday, and until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
W.B. Yeats Irish Pub (306 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill) draws an older crowd, “mainly graduate students,” according to employee Lamont Greene. Yeats serves steaks, seafood and after-hours appetizers until 2 a.m. on weekdays, and 3:30 a.m. on weekends.
Brixx Wood Fired Pizza (501 N. Meadowmont Circle, Chapel Hill) serves pizza and alcohol, mainly to the college crowd. Some nights, Brixx features live music on the patio and offers a selection of 24 different beers. Brixx is open from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. Monday through Friday, and closes at 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Time-Out Chicken and Biscuits (133 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill) is open 24 hours a day serving biscuits, home fries and fried chicken.
Armadillo Grill (120 E. Main St., Carrboro) offers Mexican fare from 11 a.m until midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Durham also has places that college students can check out. Pan Pan Diner (1810 Hillandale Rd.,Durham) serves soul food, sandwiches, spaghetti and steaks, as well as breakfast around the clock. It also offers all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch and dinner bars. Pan Pan is open until midnight Monday through Wednesday, and 24 hours on weekends.
Cosmic Cantina (1920 Perry St., Durham) serves healthy, low-fat Mexican food. With a patio for open-air dining and low prices, it makes a good place for college students on a budget to go on a date. Business hours are 11 a.m. until 4 a.m.
Also, the famous Waffle House, located throughout Durham, is open 24 hours a day, specializing in serving a quick breakfast.
