The urban movie classic “Belly” has been digitally remastered and re-released, fulfilling hard-core fans dreams of sex, drugs, and hip-hop.
The new two-disc box set includes a DVD and eight tracks from the original movie soundtrack, featuring DMX, Bravehearts, Sean Paul, Method Man, Jay-Z, Ja Rule, L.O.X., and others.
New DVD features include director, Hype Williams commentating scene-by-scene on his desired reactions and elements he may have “overdone.”
There are also subtitles in Spanish, and a spoken word feature that lets poets speak on the values presented by the characters Tommy and Sincere.
And, of course, there is an enhanced version of the infamous tunnel scene.
The movie may still be a little abrasive for most of middle and black America, who feel it negatively depicts the black community, but it still has a realistic viewpoint of what we love and what we despise.
