Naughty, naughty, naughty, Bon Vivant!

N.C. Central University modeling troupe Bon Vivant, held their annual fashion show on April 18 in the B.N. Duke Auditorium. The show was scheduled to start at 9 p.m. It was not until after over 20 minutes of waiting in the cold and the crowd becoming impatient that the doors were opened. The show later started around 10 p.m.

The first act was a dance group called the Naughty Boyz. This Apollo-winning group got on stage and gave the crowd 100%, with their motion and movement. Their dance was brilliant and had the audience excited and wanting more.

The act consisted of dance, acting, and acrobatics. It was well organized and entertaining.

After a little behind stage communication, to the crowd’s disapproval the group was forced off the stage by the Bon Vivant staff. Many students felt that it was rude and one student yelled out "man that’s messed up," as the group waved and walked off the stage.

After one of many long intermissions the fashion show finally began. The women were in beautiful white outfits and performed on the stage. The men used the middle aisles to present themselves. They both then came together and showed themselves to the crowd. They had the crowd’s attention and they fed off of this, in their combination of dance and modeling techniques.

Campus Hills, a local rap group, brought confusion to the crowd with their lyrical skills. But for some reason the audience was not feeling them.

The crowd showed their disapproval by booing and yelling negative statements at the group like, "No, please stop. Just cut it ok."

When I asked one of the students why he did not like the group he said it was not the group, but that microphone system was not projecting clear, making them sound bad.

Soon the crowd became anxious during the long intermissions and began to amuse themselves.

To entertain themselves many of them danced. It soon became sort of a competition. At one point a guy got so frustrated that he got on stage and stripped for the people causing a bit of an uproar in the crowd.

After this public display, many of the other men started taking off their shirts and teasing the crowd by undoing their pants.

"Take it off" was screamed as a man pulled his pants down, exposing his dotted print boxer shorts.

To many, that was the most enjoyable part of the show. The show also modeled western and cowboy, swimwear and underwear, and everyday and club scene attire.

The models used the stage and floor as a runway to show their clothes, and at one point the men presented flowers to chosen women in the audience.

Overall the show was a tasteless and tacky affair, with models showing an excessive amount of skin. But it was also a was sexy and stunning affair, with a wonderful blend of colors, fabric, and attitude.
