No jokes this time. This day will always be a sad day in my heart as the Arts and Entertainment staff of the Campus Echo sends out our prayers to Christopher “Biggie” Wallace’s family.
He didn’t know how hard he could impact a generation of youth that thought there would never be a way out of their hoods, ghettos, projects, and currently suburban neighborhoods. He didn’t know that he was going to die early. He didn’t know how hard his music would influence a generation to get the loot and support their families.
He did know how well he could tell a story and how well we can quote him on his words.
Yet, what he doesn’t know is that I miss him and his music. From NY mixtapes to ‘Life After Death,’ I can’t let go of Biggie. Who can? Who will?
Even the currently greatest heavyweight of hip-hop has to quote him and ‘big up his brother’ whenever he can in his rhymes.
March 9 is a day I will never forget. And neither shall you.
Rest in Peace, Notorious B.I.G.
We miss you very much.
