The
North Carolina Central University Police Department
stresses the Police Mission through its proactive
approach and goal setting process. It is through initiating
activities to meet these goals that we are able to
effectively contribute to a high quality of life for
those affiliated with the University.
The North Carolina Central University Police Department
provides law enforcement and security services that
center around one primary concern: to serve and protect
all those who come to the campus. This commitment
includes the provision of service to the community
when crimes do occur, as well as the prevention of
crime. The employees of the University Police Department
must work in partnership with the community to deliver
the finest services available. To continue to deliver
the finest services, the University Police Department
must continue to upgrade its standards, equipment
and training of personnel.
The University Police Department has 53 authorized
positions including 28 commissioned Police Officers,
13 security officers, 6 emergency telecommunicators
and various administrative support personnel. North
Carolina Central University Police Officers are commissioned
under North Carolina General Statute and have the
full range of police authorities granted any municipal
law enforcement officer on property owned by and under
control of North Carolina Central University, including
adjacent streets and roadways.
Parking and Transportation services are critical to
all those who work, live and visit our Campus. The
University's Parking rules and regulations are adopted
annually by the University's Board of Trustees pursuant
to Chapter 116, Article I, Part 6 of the General Statutes
of North Carolina. It defines the general operations
and policies of the transportation and parking system
for the University. The following areas are covered
under the ordinances: Parking (both normal and special
events), Parking Permits and costs, Traffic, Enforcement
and Appeals.
