Director
of Police and Public Safety
NCCU
Police Department's chief executive is Director Willie
R. Williams Sr., who holds the rank of Chief of Police.
Three assistants aid Chief Williams in the day-to-day
operation of the department: Administration Bureau
Commander (Captain), Field Operations Bureau Commander
(Captain) and an Administrative Assistant (civilian)
who is also the Traffic Manager.
Administration
Bureau Commander
The
Administration Bureau Commander has day-to-day responsibility
for some operations and security provided by the department.
The Commander provides direct supervision of the following
sections/functions:
Operations:
These
functions encompass internal investigations, budgeting,
recruitment, evidence, updating all departmental
policies and standard operating procedures.
Communications
Section: Communications
is comprised of four Telecommunicators and is responsible
for all emergency dispatch duties for the Department.
The personnel within this section are not sworn
law enforcement.
Training
Section: This
section is responsible for coordinating
all mandatory and elective training for the Department's
sworn
and non-sworn peresonnel.
Field
Operations Bureau Commander
The
Field Operations Bureau Commander has day-to-day responsibility
for law enforcement provided to the University community;
24 hour per day, 365 days per year
Uniformed
Patrol Section: Patrol
is comprised of four Lieutenants, four Sergeants
and Officers on four squads,which provide sworn
law enforcement services.
Security
Section: This
section is comprised of two sworn police officers
and nine security officers. This section is responsible
for the security at the Residential Halls, Art Museum,
and the Security Booth.
Criminal
Investigation Section: The
section is available 24 hours a day, with on-call
personnel. Thissection is responsible for the investigation
of all felonious offenses committed on University
property.
Crime
Prevention Section: This
section is responsible for the presentation of violence
prevention programs to the University community
including: Self Defense Classes; Date Rape Seminars;
Crime Prevention Fairs and other outreach programs
as required or requested.
Traffic
Manager/Administrative Assistant
The
Traffic Manager is responsible for the overall management
and administration of the Parking
Enforcement Program involving decals, ticketing,
parking ticket appeals, and suspending parking privileges,
when appropriate.
