The Law School accepts applications for the Fall semester beginning October 1st. There is no spring semester enrollment. All applicants must apply using the on-line application. Materials submitted prior to that date will be returned unprocessed. Applicants have the option of applying to one or both law school programs (Day, Evening, or both Day and Evening) on the same application and for one $40 application fee. Applicants are encouraged to read the admissions information for each program (Day Program / Evening Program) and to carefully select the program that best meets their objectives. Switching programs after submission of the initial application is not permitted. Applicants who submit their Application for Admission without indicating the program(s) for which they intend to apply will automatically be considered for the Day Program only.
The $40 non-refundable, non-waivable application fee must be paid by credit card through LSAC's fee collection service to submit the on-line application.
Because decisions are made on a rolling admission basis, it is advantageous to apply to the School of Law as early in the admissions year as possible. However, regardless of when an applicant applies, an applicant whose performance indicators are in the middle-range may not receive an admissions decision until later in the admissions cycle.
MacBook or MacBook Pro users must use Firefox as their web browser to apply on-line through the Law School Admission Council's on-line application service.
Only completed on-line applications will be processed. Applications submitted omitting answers will not be processed and therefore, are considered incomplete and will be denied. Applicants have a continuing obligation to submit updated application or other supplemental information that may have bearing on the admissions decision, the accuracy of the application file, the ability to continue law school studies, or on the applicant's eligibility to take the bar examination upon graduation.
A completed application file includes a timely submitted on-line Application for Admission, the $40 non-refundable; non-waivable application fee, the LSDAS report which contains the LSAT score, transcript information; (2) two required written recommendations through LSAC's Letter of Recommendation service; and a personal statement, although not required, is strongly recommended.
Please retain a copy of the completed application and accompanying materials and store them with your important papers for future reference. A copy of your completed application for admission to any law school is required when applying for a license to practice law in North Carolina, and may be required by other state bars.
