| All persons who have earned the Juris Doctor from the School of Law are alumni of the Law School and members of the Association. The Alumni Association was chartered "to encourage the continuing development of legal education at North Carolina Central University School of Law and to encourage and aid student attending the Law School." The Alumni Association works with the Career Services Office to provide students with employment opportunities and conducts annual fund-raising efforts to support scholarships for law students.
Although the NCCU School of Law Alumni Association works closely with the NCCU School of Law, the Association is an independent entity not affiliated with North Carolina Central University or the University of North Carolina System. All members are eligible to vote and hold offices in the Association. The Association also has honorary members, associate members and ex-officio members who are not eligible to vote or hold office in the Association.
The Annual Meeting of the Association is held during Law Week (usually in April) at the Law School. The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to hear reports of the activities of the Board of Directors during the past year, to elect members to the Board of Directors, and to conduct general business.
The NCCU School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors meets at least quarterly. If you are interested in getting involved in any alumni activities, please contact Sharon D. Alston in the Alumni Relations office at (919) 530-5386 or email at sdalston@nccu.edu
