Dorothy Nachman- Assistant Professor B.S., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; J.D., North Carolina Central University, summa cum laude.
Professor Nachman is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. She graduated from UNC-CH in 1990 with a B.S. in Administration of Justice. In 1996, she graduated summa cum laude from NCCU's School of Law after spending her first year in the night program and completing her legal studies in the day program. After graduation from Law School, Professor Nachman entered a small private practice in Durham, North Carolina dedicated to issues of estate planning, wills & trusts, and probate law. In 2004, Nachman sat for and passed the Estate Planning and Probate Law Specialty Exam administered by the North Carolina State Bar thus earning her the designation of Specialist in the field.
In 2002, Professor Nachman began as an adjunct at the NCCU School of Law and joined the faculty full-time in January, 2005. Professor Nachman has taught Business Administration, Professional Responsibility, Decedents' Estates I, Decedents' Estates II, Estate & Gift Taxation and Elder Law. Professor Nachman has also served, along with Professor Fred Williams, as faculty coach for the NCCU's Client Counseling Competition team. In 2006, Professor Nachman was appointed to a 3-year term on the American Bar Association's Client Counseling Subcommittee.
Professional Affiliations: North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, member of Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section, American Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association.
Professor Nachman's hobbies include reading, traveling, and nurturing two young violinists.
