| Student Health and Counseling Center
The Counseling Center, with a staff of trained counselors and a counseling psychologist, provides a wide range of services designed to promote good mental health and the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. Counseling services are free and confidential. The Center is located in Room 105 of the Student Services Building.
Services to Students with Disabilities
The Office of Student Support Services (SSS) serves students with disabilities to ensure that they have reasonable accommodations and services, and offers them equal opportunities for a successful and satisfying educational experience. All currently enrolled students with documented disabilities are eligible for services. Student support may include reader and attendant services; interpreter services; campus orientation, mobility, and accessibility services; adaptive transportation; parking; and tutorial and counseling services. Student Health Services
Student Health Services is committed to providing quality primary care and health and wellness programming to both on-campus and commuting students. Student Health Services is located in the south end of the Old Health Building across from Pearson Cafeteria. For clinic hours and costs of services call the office at 919-530-6317. The costs of medical services not covered by the health fee are the responsibility of the student, unless he/she is covered by health insurance.
Student Health Fee and Insurance
The health fee entitles students to all free services at Student Health Services. The student health insurance is designed to supplement the services provided at Student Health Services and other health plans. It provides twenty-four (24) hour coverage during the term of the policy whether the student is on or off campus and during vacations. The insurance covers only a percentage of incurred costs; the remaining costs are the responsibility of the student and his/her family. The student health insurance is mandatory for all law students. However, a law student may waive the insurance if he/she is covered by other insurance (waiver forms are available from Student Health Services). Student Housing
Most law students live off-campus. However, limited housing is available on-campus for single law students through the Department of Residential Life. There is no housing for married law students on campus. The Department of Residential Life is located on the lower level of the Student Services Building. Dining Services
On-campus students are offered a modified board plan in Pearson Cafeteria. Students living off-campus may purchase meals on a cash basis/point basis. The Deli, a cash/ point operation located in the annex of Pearson Cafeteria, offers breakfast, a variety of delicatessen items, sandwiches, salad bar, and daily lunch specials. The Eagle's Nest, located on the ground floor of the Student Union Building, contains Li'l Dino Subs & Sandwiches, Pizza Inn Express and Firehouse Grill, on the ground floor of the School of Law building Sodexho, provides sandwiches, salads and more. The University also has vending operations that offer quick snacks, sandwiches, and beverages throughout the campus.
Student Store
The North Carolina Central University Student Store, located on the ground floor of the Alfonso Elder Student Union, is the official source for the purchase of textbooks, school supplies, and emblematic school paraphernalia. The Child Development Laboratory
North Carolina Central University is pleased to offer on-campus childcare services for pre-school-aged children. The Child Development Laboratory is available to all faculty, administrators, staff and students who have toilet-trained children between the ages of two years and ten months to four years. Services are available from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. from mid-August through June of each year. For an application or more information including fees, please contact the Director at 919-530-6447.
University Safety and Parking
The primary role of the University Police Department is to provide a safe working and learning environment for students, faculty and staff. The department operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, and provides a variety of services including information and safety consultation, lost and found, escort service after dark, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, property identification, and vehicle registration. All vehicles on campus must be registered and school-year parking permits must be purchased in order to park in campus lots. International Student Advisor
North Carolina Central University offers advisory services to international students. All international students must obtain admission clearance through this office. For information about the services offered, contact the International Student Advisor at 919-530-7492 located in Room 232 of the Student Services Building.
Office of Veterans' Affairs
North Carolina Central University is approved to enroll veterans, participants, military, and other eligible persons in its programs of education under the provisions of Titles 38 and 10 of the United States Code. The Veterans Administration administers a number of education and training programs for veterans, service persons and eligible dependents. The University's coordinator for veterans education benefits is located in the Office of the Registrar, 102 Hoey Administration Building at 919-530-5053.
Other Services
As members of the larger university community, law students may take advantage of the many educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities offered by North Carolina Central University for all its students. Concerts, plays, art exhibits, recitals, and lectures all combine to enhance the students' educational experience. Law students also have access to on-campus physical fitness facilities.
