Q & A with Kevin Liles

Fourteen area high school students got a taste of entrepreneurship when they participated in the 2012 Summer Youth Business and Entrepreneurship Academy presented by the School of Business. Sponsored by Genworth Financial, they met with business leaders, including Kevin Liles, author, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Liles is the former president of Def Jam Records and founder of the Make it Happen Foundation, one of the academy's partners. "Colores" Art Exhibit

Aug. 25 – Sept. 21, NCCU Art Museum
The NCCU Art Museum will host the first exhibition of the fall season, Colores. The exhibit, which runs during part of Hispanic Heritage month, will feature critically acclaimed North Carolina-based Latino artists Eduardo Lapetina, Gustavo De Los Rios, Jose Manuel Cruz, Luis Ardila, Olid Garcia and Oscar Ortiz. The exhibition recognizes the contributions of Hispanic populations in enriching the state and strengthening cultural and economic ties to Latin America and beyond.

Through An Eagle's Lens

Forty incoming students participating in the summer bridge program, Aspiring Eagles Academy (AEA), traveled to Washington for a tour of the city and brief meetings with members of Congress. Participants who successfully complete the five-week program receive a minimum of six credits toward their degree.
