Dean Cecelia Steppe-Jones, PhD
Welcome to the School of Education at North Carolina Central University, where we prepare educators for diverse cultural contexts.
We offer a rich variety of undergraduate and graduate programs to license teachers and administrators for the public schools of North Carolina. Moreover, our programs are distinguished by the partnerships that we have crafted with the local public schools, the community colleges and the private sector.
The School of Education has also made exemplary advancement in integrating diversity, partnerships, and technology in the content of our courses and in the delivery of instruction.
The faculty, staff and administration of the School of Education welcome you to an environment that promotes learning in a technologically advanced facility. Most importantly, however, the NCCU School of Education invites you to be a participant in a diverse learning experience that develops sensitivity to all cultures, creeds, and races.
Please join the NCCU Eagle family for a flight to academic excellence.
Join statewide teachers, administrators, counselors, and pre-service teacher candidates for a day of interactive and practical approaches to using technology to capitalize on student strengths and abilities. This symposium will provide strategies for increasing student achievement using both “low-tech” and “high-tech” technology.
All workshops will be lead by technology specialist in the School of Education and experienced practicing interns and teachers. A panel discussion will allow practicing educators to discuss the use and implementation of proven strategies that motivate students. In addition to facilitators and panelists, the keynote speaker is N.C. Teacher of the Year, Cindi Rigsbee.
Rigsbee is a dynamic educator, equipped with 21 years of teaching experience, who loves to share her expertise with teachers and school administrators to enhance school curricula and ignite student creativity. Cindi has served as a teacher-on-loan to the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, a human resources coordinator, and a teacher trainer.
