Can I get financial aid?
There are no financial aid programs available through NC TEACH, but as a university student you are eligible for several types of scholarships and federal loans. For specific information about financial aid, contact the financial aid office at your host site at North Carolina Central University at (919) 530-5313 or

I am not a resident of North Carolina. Do I have to pay out-of-state tuition?
Out-of-state applicants who obtain employment as a teacher and who reside in the state of North Carolina will be eligible for in-state tuition in the public universities once they begin teaching in a public school. Out-of-state residents are required to pay out-of-state tuition for the credit hours earned during the Summer Institute.
Should I apply if I don't meet one or more of the eligibility requirements?
If you do not meet one or more of the minimum eligibility requirements, it is unlikely that you will be granted admission to the program. There are some conditions under which a waiver of the GPA requirement may be approved. If you have less than a 2.5 GPA you will be required to take and pass Praxis I (www.ets.org) and obtain at least a 3.75 grade point average in second chance hours. Praxis I must be passed prior to being accepted into the NC Teach Program.
What will my starting salary be?
Please refer to the NC Public School Salary Schedule at http://www.ncpublicschools.org for specific information regarding starting salaries for teachers. Years of experience in a previous career may be considered when determining your salary; that decision is made by your employing school district.
When will I get a decision on my application?
Since we review and make decisions on applications throughout the application period, there is no set date for notification of status. You will be notified of a decision on your application as soon as one is made.
