Teacher Education Program
Requirements
In order to receive full admission status into any North Carolina Central University Teacher Education Program a student must apply to the Teacher Education Program.
Once the following requirements have been met, the student must apply by completing a Teacher Education Program Application with their advisor/coordinator.
To be eligible for Admission to the teacher education Program (TEP) as a undergraduate/1 st degree candidate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Complete all General Education Curriculum Requirements (Courses)
- C’s or better in GEC English requirements
- Passing Scores on Praxis I
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
To be eligible for Admission to the teacher education Program (TEP) as a post-baccalaureate/2nd degree candidate, you must meet the following criteria:
- An official transcript of the e Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
- An earned GPA of 2.5 or higher in 1 st bachelor’s degree
As mandated by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, students with less than a 2.5 must complete 15 hours at NCCU (unrestricted courses) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and also pass Praxis I.
Application Process
The Program Director/Coordinator will submit the TEP Application to the Licensure Office in the School of Education, where it will be processed and presented to the Teacher Education Council for approval. You will receive notification of your admission to the program via mail.
