Chapter History
May 23, 1941 marks the date
the greatest chapter in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc was
built on the campus of North Carolina College for Negros (presently
North Carolina Central University). Bro. Billy Adkins, Bro.
Theodore Bell, Bro. Slyvester Carter, Bro. William P. Malone,
and Bro. Ward Parham united to spark not the beginning but
the foundation of a chapter that has grown to produce over
300 members each having left a distinctive mark on the history
of Alpha Phi Alpha. The Gangsta Gamma
Beta chapter has been known to the world both in and out
of Alpha as an active chapter dedicated to the cause of building
a better community. That characteristc has shown itself through
the countless numbers of programs and services Gamma Beta
has provided throughout the years. Add to that terrific step
teams and countless awards, one can truly see the light of
Alpha held high and pouring out of the hearts of the members
of Gamma Beta.
This legacy has been handed down to the newest
edition of the Gamma Beta Chapter. Continuing in the footsteps of former leaders
of Gamma Beta, the thirteen men that compose Spring 2004, "Armageddon - The
War of the Worlds" are working hard to move onward and upward towards the light
of Alpha. As the premier leaders of Greek life on the campus of North Carolina
Central University, these gentlemen hold many roles on campus as have many
in the legacy of Gamma Beta. With new and innovative ideas and a strong sense
of committment, the Gamma Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc is
sure to continue building great men and building great communities.
