The new North Carolina Central University online campus map provides students, faculty, visitors, and alumni with easy to use tools and services to make navigation of the NCCU campus easier.
The NCCU campus map provides a list of locations on campus that any user may be looking for. People who are new to the campus can search for the administrative buildings, visitors can find the parking lots they need for events, and long-time students can find the hidden gems of NCCU. The complete list of locations provided are administrative buildings, classrooms, dorms, food, points of interest, recreation and athletics, libraries, services, parking lots, printers, and inclusive bathrooms. Each building in these categories have the following information (when applicable): images, website, contact information, and a list of offices inside. Each printer and inclusive bathroom come with their location, and each parking lot includes the type of spots available (i.e. residential, reserved, commuter, etc.) and the number of handicap spots in the lot.
When on the page for a location, the user can get directions to this location. You can choose between directions from your location (provided your location is on – desktops seem to have issue with location accuracy) or a specific building on campus. You can also opt to use only handicap-accessible routes, which are provided by the project manager that walked the campus to ensure the information was accurate.
If you want to share the map with a location or list of locations (e.g. for an event on campus), the map provides the ability to share and embed. Each location has a share button that will give you the link and embed code for that specific location. The overall map also has a share button to allow for sharing of multiple locations (or even location categories).
The map was created with Leaflet using imagery from Mapbox, and was developed by the NCCU Web Services Team from summer 2018 to spring 2019. If you have any feedback, comments, or concerns, please contact us through helpdesk.
